So my cat's illness was because he somehow got giardia! In cats? I thought it was weird too. However, seems it's possible. He's still pretty sick but back at home and doing a little better. I'm very grateful as my mother would have a very tough go of it if something happened to the cat. Anyways...do you see the smiley face on the picture of our friendly parasite? I think it seems like a very sick and twisted joke that the havoc-wrecking parasite should look happy.
this is kinda how i felt today...i showed it to all my classes. and the kids just were crazy today, so i guess i got a little taste of how parents feel...except i was dealing with 90 of them. Bah!
as far as spring break goes, it was ok. i went from having all my time filled to having NOTHING to do. it was very weird and lonely, and i really struggled to not just try to hide from the emptiness i feel in my life. and then to go back...it was just rough. i was very grateful to rest, to sleep in everyday til 10, to see kelsea, and to just bum with friends. being at the seneca house with friends was lovely, and getting to play music was great...but ya, still painful in lots of ways. so ya...there ya go cori :)
today feels like autumn in indiana so im gonna go enjoy it - you should too
these little flowers grow all over the grass back in the midwest. i think they are a type of clover, but as little kids i used to make necklaces out of them while sitting at soccer games in the summer. i think they are quite cute. i would never put grass in out here in the desert, but i definitely miss it at times...
For those of you who know me fairly well, you know I'm not terribly attached to pets. Bella is quite the stretch for me and I often joke about turning her into hotdogs...terrible, I know. However, we've always had a cat at my house growing up and we've had our cat Little Kitty (creative name right?) for 12 years now. My mom called today crying telling me that Little Kitty is dying. This is a pretty rough time for my mom so if you think of her, prayer for her as her dad just died and things are really rough back home. 5 of our direct next-door neighbors are out of work as the unemployment rate has risen to around 20% in my county. Things are very, very bad there...Here's to trusting that God takes care of everyone...
St. Patrick's Day in South Bend, Indiana, is a BIG DEAL. Partly due to the Notre Dame Fightin' Irish influence, partly to the Irish-immigrant influence, and partly to the Catholic influence. The family I grew up with next door - The Hoffers, whose daughters were named Erin and Kerry (if you can start to see the obsession) - threw a HUGE St. Patrick's Day party every year. Tons of people were there, tons of food was there, and tons of beer was there. While this was very normal at the time, it's funny to look back on...the way I grew up was different from many to say the least. However, this has instilled in me a deep respect for Irish culture and love of celebrating St. Patrick's Day. The past few days I've been doing a little recon, and what seems to me to be a default celebration of St. Patrick's Day is not so innate for my friends here in Tucson...

My challenge to you all is to go out this St. Patrick's Day - that's this Tuesday, March 17th - and hang with some people you enjoy and celebrate St. Patrick's Day and Ireland! (But don't drink the green beer because it's cheap and tastes terrible...)
If you need help getting in the spirit, you could...
1) Watch the above video of The Chieftains, a very popular Irish band, a bunch of times
2) Do what I've been doing and listen to Irish music on iTunes Radio. Click on "Radio" on the left, then click on "Folk" and you'll find several Irish stations.
3) Head downtown to Armory Park on Tuesday at 11 AM, watch the St. Paddy's Day parade and hit up the Festival...eat some corned beef, cabbage, and green potatoes.
4) Head to one of the following locations and enjoy my favorite pint - a Guinness
(The Auld Dubliner, Frog & Firken, Zachary's, or other places mentioned in this article)
5) Watch "The Quiet Man" with John Wayne or one of Sean Connery's first movies - "Darby O'Gill and the Little People", which I used watch often as a kid
6) Research St. Patrick, Ireland, and the history of St. Patrick's Day! (Notice on the Wikipedia page that the Chicago River is dyed green every year. Seriously, St. Paddy's Day is a BIG DEAL back home)
my teaching friends kim and josh are getting married today.
sadly, we don't get to go to hawaii for it, but nonetheless, it will be great. all the weddings are now to the point where it's fun to just see the differences in each of the couples and how they express themselves through the ceremony.
I recently bought back my very first guitar. The Metallic Sage Green Fender Stratocaster. It has such an amazing sound, even so for a Strat, and I've had a blast playing it lately. If you haven't heard, The Village recently got our very own building (WOOT!), and it's been crazy to just feel the difference playing in the band in our own building. It seems like we're more of a community and that we play better together...Lately as I play, I feel like God is inviting me into stepping into this part of myself that I was unwilling to be. I kinda knew the invitation was there all along, but I felt stupid and scared. But this past Sunday was awesome - I was able to just let loose, play, sing, scream, and really enjoy being apart of sick band that worships a great God with cool music. Sunday was a good day.
i'll give you a clue. the woman wears a white dress. Got it???! Ya!!!!
But despite some of the "uggg" that goes along with all the recent wedding business, it's my dear friend Julianne. She's gonna look beautiful and it's gonna be a good road trip with the Cori/eys and Coleen :)
