who woulda guessed?

so i was scanning through my pictures and i find the hiking folder.  coleen, cori, and i took bella on a hike to marshall gulch about a year ago.  it was a great afternoon, except the fact that bella was going nuts. we hiked, laughed, and then ate at the restaurant where you get the good pie..mmmmmm.....but this picture caught my attention because though it is only a year ago, SO MUCH has changed in all of our lives. coleen just got back from her honeymoon this morning, cori left this morning to go to 11 countries in 11 months, and i am a actual teacher - with a classroom! - and yet still a barista :)  2 years ago, i really didn't see ANY of these things coming. Corey wasn't in the picture, Cori wasn't moving anywhere, and I was still in research.  all this to say that i generally am not so great at trusting God with unknown's in my life. i like to control and plan things and know what the heck is going on.  and now partly it's my job to plan ahead - but looking at this picture helped me see all the unplanned, really really good things that God did, and it helps me to trust him for.

lovely california

70 degrees, slight breeze, green and color EVERYWHERE, the ocean...it was awesome! Minus the fact that I had the flu, but being sick in california was much better than being sick in hot Tucson.  All in all, a good trip. The people we stayed with were awesome - thanks Tom and Lori!  But ya, it was a great time...here are some pics of where we stayed. In Encinitas, near Moonlight Beach...heck ya!

Derby Day, Tucson style

It's Derby Day.

The official starting day of the Kentucky Derby where apparently woman wear BIG hats, like people do in England. I don't know how we lost that custom out here in the West, but I thought I'd try to bring it back Tucson style...so I wore this hat all day.

no just kidding.

However, my mom has millions of hats and when I went home in October, the time I wasn't in the hospital with my Grandpa I was REALLY bored. I mean staggeringly bored.  So I took a bunch of pictures of myself in a bunch of my mom's hats...here's the first. It was my great-grandma's and I think she originally got it in Tucson...come full circle
