Te Amo

I found this woodcut on Etsy, and while I love the texture of the woodcut, I thought I should try to paint it before I pay for it. 

Here's my attempt!

O to trust

I've had a hard time trusting God this week with just lots of anxiety...which is actually ludicrous because He's been talking to me a lot!  To voice my questions a different way, I used some leftover acrylics, cardboard, and labels from school to paint what I was feeling.

Table upon which to paint

I've been hunting for a table to put in the guest room (which I have commandeered to paint and journal in).  I wanted something chippy and rustic, and I actually bought a cheap salvaged gate, but it was too big and would have taken a LOT of work...and I had no legs for it...and no carpentry skills to attach would-be legs.  

And then I found THIS!  Tres Amigos was having a CLEARANCE sale, because that place is waaaaaay too expensive to shop at.  

Isn't it gorgeous?!

The lighting is hard in this room, so it was mostly backlit because it's by a big window, but you get the idea!

Thaaaaaanks God! It's been great chilling and painting there with you :)

Sign

I was commissioned to make a sign for a friend's baby shower.  

Apparently it's to help people figure out where they're going to find the clubhouse (location of shower) and the pool, which I hadn't painted yet in this picture.  Rather than doing poster board tacked on, I thought it might be fun to paint it!  It proved to take much longer than I thought, but was a fun way to enjoy being outside, even in the Tucson heat.  

And I got to use some leftover paint from painting my house...don't you love the turquoise?!  I know I do :)

Extra

I painted a while ago with two of my students. It was a very fun time and this was the leftover paint that I just put in my journal. Awesome texture and color right?!

Watercolor cards

I've been making watercolor cards in an attempt to save some cash (there have been so many birthdays in the past few months!) and also to endeavor to do creative things that don't take a lot of time amidst teaching.

Gems from last week

This is how often I was home this week...

I've started using my guest room as a painting room and place to spend time with God.  It was also my dad's birthday this week, so it was fun to craft him a small present.

One of my TA's made this - his Mini-Wheat Man - with disregarded staples. Ahhh what high-schoolers do when they're bored... 

I am not proud to say that I showed my students the honey badger Youtube video. I thought they would find it amusing, but I forgot how crass it was and how much high schoolers latch on to things. 

 This shirt appeared shortly after.
